Before I get into the exact reasons WHY Young Living is the best essential oil company in the world, let me explain to you what an essential oil is, how it works, and the importance of how they are extracted from the plants so you can research & judge for yourself what company has the best products for your needs.
So what in the world is an Essential Oil?
Potent, volatile and
extremely versatile and are often called the “lifeblood” of the plant. In basic
terms its oil from a plant. The oil will come from the flowers, leaves, wood,
bark, roots, seeds, or peel of the plant.
One drop of an essential oil is tiny.
We have 100 trillion cells in our bodies...which is a lot right? Essential oils
have very, very small molecules. They are so small, that they enter your body
through the skin and go EVERYWHERE in your body. There are approximately 40
million trillion molecules in one drop of essential oil (that's approximately
40,000 molecules for each cell in the average human body). This makes them
extremely unique.
They can pass into our skin, into our blood, and into our
brain. Just smelling them allows them to get into your bloodstream. Diffusing
them is another amazing way to get them into your bloodstream. The diffuser
uses cold water (as not to disrupt the healing properties of the oil) to shoot
the essential oil into teeny tiny vapor into the air. We breathe it in, it goes
into our lungs, and then into our bloodstream.
There was a study done where
they massaged Lavender Essential Oil onto people’s stomachs to see how fast the
oil is absorbed into the bloodstream. They took blood every 5 minutes. Lavender
appeared in the blood at 5 minutes and peaked at 20 minutes, that’s
amazing.
So what do these Essential oils do when they're in our
blood stream?
They increase oxygen
within our cells, which helps our cells to release toxins. They are enhancing
our immune system. They support the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine,
digestive, nervous, and other body systems. They aid in maintaining normal cellular
regeneration, are high in antioxidants … and depending on which oil it is, they
can:

So how do they get this oil?
For most of the plants it’s distillation. They take the part they get
the oil from.... The flower, root, bark, stem, seed, whatever and apply low
temperature steam and low pressure. Think of it kind of like Olive Oil. We have
learned that the very 1st press of the olives is the healthiest (Extra Virgin
Olive Oil). In that same way you want your essential oil company to give you
the very 1st distillation process. Young Living’s oils are just like EVOO in
that they are from the 1st distillation. 
They are the strongest, most
concentrated oils. This also means they smell very earthy. The more you distill
something (some companies do it up to 4 times) the more it changes the smell
and the potency. Like peppermint for instance the more you distill it, the
sweeter it smells. So peppermint oil that smells like candy is less potent and
pure.
And essential oils that are sold in health food stores are even less pure. Because not only are you talking 4th distillation, they add chemical diluents and synthetics to make them cheaper. They put fillers in your in your oil. If an oil says “For external use only” or “Not for internal use” then that is a big fat red flag. Not only would that oil NOT be very helpful when you use it, it could actually be harmful.
Young Living has a seed to seal guarantee. No plants are just magically sent to a young living factory where they have no idea what happened to those plants before they arrived. From picking out the seeds of the plants, to farming and cultivating them, to distilling them, testing the oils, and then sealing the bottles, Young Living controls every step.
Oils at retail stores vs. Young Living:
Young Living Essential oils are 100% certified therapeutic grade oils
with no fillers or preservatives. Nothing hidden and no expiration date. Our
plants are most effective because they are grown where they are indigenous and
we have promise of integrity from the time a seed is planted until the moment
the oil arrives on your doorstep.
They are NOT laced with synthetics that are
harmful and dangerous, and they are not lab replicated. They're not cut with
carrier oil (unless you purchase a roll-on which has a carrier specifically so
you don't have to carry it with you). It's taken directly from the plant. This
gives peace of mind that even a 100% organic label from another company can't
give me.
Additionally, Young Living is the ONLY essential oil company in the
world that owns their own farms to grow their crop. Every other company buys
their product at some point. Young Living tests and maintains pure, organic,
therapeutic grade from the time the seed is put into the ground to the time
it's sealed into the bottle. Therapeutic grade oils are almost never sold in
retails stores. They might be organic, but they distill it in a way that is
cheaper and faster (hence the cheaper price tag) which kills the compounds that
make up the molecules; meaning that the healing properties are gone. So, don’t
expect healing properties from them.
When oils are distilled at low temperature
and low pressure the healing properties are preserved, but it takes a lot of
time and a lot more money to do it that way. Over 90% of the oils that are sold
as “pure essential” in America are food or fragrance grades and are NOT
suitable for healing applications. Young Living oils are safe to apply, diffuse
AND ingest... because they are 100% organic.
If you see "do not
ingest" or “for external use only” on the bottle, run in the other
direction because you're basically buying it for the smell only. Just like the
food industry, "legally" there only has to be 5% of the actual oil in
there to be considered 100% peppermint (or whatever oil it is)... which is part
of the reason Young Living oils are so great! There are no fillers, additives,
etc. etc. Truly, you get what you pay for with 100% pure therapeutic grade
essential oils.
Let's talk Fragrance (imagine my eyes wide open in shock!)
In the U.S., manufacturers can legally hide hundreds of synthetic chemicals in the one word—“fragrance”—without revealing what those ingredients are. It’s referred to as a “trade secret” in the industry. But really, it’s simply a loophole big enough to drive a fuel truck though. BTW... you won't see the word "fragrance" on ANY Young Living products!
Environmental Working Group (EWG) researchers found more than 75 percent of products listing the ingredient “fragrance” contain phthalates (THAL-ates) which have been shown to disrupt hormone activity, reduce sperm counts, and cause reproductive malformation, and have been linked to liver and breast cancer, diabetes, and obesity. Additionally, studies by Dr. Philip J. Landrigan of the Mount Sinai Children’s Environmental Health Center, link fetal exposure with autism, ADHD, and neurological disorders.

- Over 98% of essential oil volume produced in the world is for perfume and cosmetic industry. Only 2% is for therapeutic and medicinal applications.
- Young Living rejects over 35% of oil samples for further production for not meeting our standards.
- Young Living has compiled an essential oil library of index that contains over 400,000 components. If an oil is tested and fails on one or more component, it fails the Young Living standard. Failure can occur for reasons such as distillation occurring at the wrong time of day!

Never buy Young Living Essential Oils From
Amazon, eBay, or Other Third-Party Sites
I am a price-checker by nature. I am ALWAYS comparing prices before actually buying something. In fact, I go to 2 grocery stores every week and know where I need to buy what items in order to get the lowest price. I do NOT like overpaying, as I’m sure you don’t either!
So I KNOW it’s tempting (and normal), once you’ve decided you want to buy Young Living essential oils, to want to do a little price shopping!
Here is my Public Service Announcement…
If you purchase Young Living Essential Oils, PLEASE purchase them directly from Young Living, or an authorized distributor like myself! More and more, people are getting ripped off by buying their Young Living oils from Amazon, eBay, and other third-party sites!
On sites like Amazon and eBay, some sellers are either cutting the oils with a carrier or dumping them entirely and filling them with water, then putting a ‘new’ cap on before selling them. And then, of course, they can sell the oils for a lower price.
Young Living stands behind all of their products, but they cannot stand behind product that someone has purchased, potentially tampered with, and then resold. So if you did not purchase your products directly from Young Living, there is nothing they can do if for some reason you are unhappy.
This scam is particularly disturbing since many of Young Living’s oils have a ‘Supplement’ label and can be taken internally… I cringe at thinking of someone ingesting one of these oils that has been tampered with, purchased off Amazon, eBay, or the like!!
